Corneotherapy & Skin Health

1 / What is Corneotherapy?

Corneotherapy is an evidence-based, barrier-first approach to skin health that focuses on repairing and maintaining the stratum corneum (the skin's outermost layer). Rather than relying on aggressive treatments that strip, peel or compromise the skin, corneotherapy works with your skin's natural biology to restore optimal function and support long-term skin health. Using products that mimics your skins natural lipids.

By strengthening the skin barrier, it helps improve concerns such as inflammation, rosacea, acne, sensitivity and premature ageing by addressing the underlying cause—not just the visible symptoms.

At Defined by Jade in Whangarei, every facial is guided by corneotherapy principles and tailored to what your skin needs on the day.

2 / How is corneotherapy different to other facials or skin treatments?

We look at the skin as a whole—not just externally, but internally as well. Rather than simply treating what you see on the surface, we work to identify what is disrupting your skin and why.

Using Prologic Skincare, we support the skin with ingredients that mimic its own natural lipids and essential fatty acids. We don't use harsh stripping cleansers, aggressive treatments or active ingredients that your skin isn't ready for.

Our priority is always to restore a healthy, resilient skin barrier before progressing further. We also provide guidance on internal factors such as lifestyle and nutrition to support healthy skin from the inside out.

3 / Which ritual is right for me?

Restore Ritual is ideal for sensitive or barrier-impaired skin, Refine Ritual is for stable skin ready for targeted correction, and Sculpt combines advanced massage techniques with active skincare. If you're unsure, book a Skin Health Consultation.

4 / How often should I get a facial?

For best results, every 4–6 weeks to work with your skin's natural renewal cycle.

5 / Is the Skin Health Consultation worth it if I just want a facial?

Yes. It allows us to properly assess your skin, identify the underlying causes of your concerns and create a personalised treatment and home-care plan. The consultation fee is fully redeemable on products or treatments at Defined by Jade Whangarei.

Waxing

1 / How long does my hair need to be before I can get waxed?

Hair should be at least 0.5 cm long (around the length of a grain of rice). As a guide, wait 2–3 weeks after shaving before your appointment. If the hair is too short we may need to reschedule for the best result.

2 / Do you offer Brazilian waxing in Whangarei?

Yes. Defined by Jade provides professional Brazilian waxing in Whangārei using premium hard wax and gentle techniques designed to minimise discomfort while protecting your skin.

3 / Does waxing hurt?

Most clients describe waxing as a quick pinch that fades almost immediately. It generally becomes more comfortable with regular waxing as the hair weakens over time. We use premium quality wax selected to minimise discomfort.

4 / I've never had a Brazilian before—what should I expect?

You're in experienced hands. Brazilian waxing is one of our most common treatments and your comfort is always the priority. I'll explain every step and check in with you throughout the appointment.

5 / Can I get a Brazilian wax while I'm on my period?

You're in experienced hands. Brazilian waxing is one of our most common treatments and your comfort is always the priority. I'll explain every step and check in with you throughout the appointment.

6 / Can I receive a wax while pregnant?

Absolutely. I have completed specialised pregnancy waxing training and adapt positioning throughout your appointment for your comfort and safety. Please let me know you're pregnant when booking.

7 / How do I prevent ingrown hairs after waxing?

Wait 3 days before exfoliating, then gently exfoliate every 2–3 days, keep the skin moisturised and use a quality ingrown hair product if required.

1 / What is LED Light Therapy?

LED (Light Emitting Diode) therapy uses clinically proven wavelengths of light to stimulate your skin's natural repair processes. It is non-invasive and works with the skin rather than damaging it.

LED can assist with acne, redness, inflammation, rosacea, collagen production, wound healing, barrier repair, hydration and overall skin health.

4 / How often should I have LED treatments?

For corrective results, 1–2 treatments per week initially, followed by maintenance every 2–6 weeks depending on your skin goals.

5 / Is LED Light Therapy safe?

Yes. It is a clinically proven, non-invasive treatment with no downtime and is suitable for most skin types.

6 / Can LED be combined with other treatments?
